“Here tonight, gone tomorrow…”
November 15, 2014. No comments.
Right. I’m back on the blog! I know… it’s been…Months! I had some kind of ‘blog’ block, and also I have been really, really busy.
We had a great tour – London, Edinburgh, Northumbria (ahhh, Northumbria with castles and sea and sunshine!), a wonderful welcome in Warwickshire…Wolfgang coming all the way from Switzerland to see us again at The Stables in Milton Keynes…a fantastic night squeezed onto the tiny stage at the Green Note in Camden…beautiful Bewdley…a magical gig in a packed-out church near where I went to school in Bristol…and a fabulous welcome back to Box.
We’ve been very lucky to have had some great photographers at the gigs, so I will put some shots of the trio on the website, and video footage from the Schtumm gig as soon as I can. I love touring with Beth and Mike. As well as being “stupendous musicians” (Downend Voice) they are the best of company. Particularly in a motorway services sandwich shop.
And there’s more to come! We’ll be travelling up to Malton and Carnforth Station itself in a couple of weeks. (I never knew I would learn so much about steam trains when I named the album after the station….but I’ve met a number of people in the last few weeks who know quite a lot!) So we will see if it’s anything like I imagined when I wrote the song, when we perform in the Heritage Centre there at the end of November.
One live review thanked us for “creating the perfect soundtrack for this season of mists and mellow fruitfulness” as well as the “delightfully uplifting showstoppers”.
However, it’s definitely feeling like winter now and my landlord has just told me to book a chimney sweep.
Also I need to pay the milkman.
