The highs and lows of a day in the recording studio
March 22, 2014. No comments.
We have been recording! Which is possibly one of the FUNNEST and most exhausting things ever. If you are curious, it goes something like this…
Usually a chripy and optimistic time involving Coffee. Comments on Traffic, the night before, and relative lateness, are bandied about before WORK begins.
It’s actually only midday. Feels like about 2pm. Great! Time for another take. And another…
Funny diets are discussed at length as SOME people eat raw broccoli and yoghurt, and others put a Ginster’s Pasty in the microwave.
THE MID-AFTERNOON SLUMP
People lie on the floor or fall asleep on the sofa whilst pretending to listen to the pen-penultimate take. Or try to figure out where that buzz is come from until losing the will to live.
THE LATE AFTERNOON DOOLALLY’S
People talk in silly voices, or laugh hysterically at questionably funny things
Tired but wired. You think you want to go out to drink and chat away excitedly at friends but suddenly your batteries die and you most desperately want to be in bed.
Unless you have kept a safe distance away from the computer, you may dream of different coloured waveforms, before waking up to go and do it all again.
Repeat until the album is finished. Or as good as finished. Or you run out of money……..
