'A Few Small Things' review.
**** Exquisite and thoughtful singer-songwriter fare
A special talent, Jennifer has produced a remarkable CD with a great collection of self-penned songs. They are simple, but affecting songs about life, people and relationships - the very bedrock of folk and country music.
... sensitive and emotional it begs repeated listens.
Best described as 'world folk' Jennifer's music is a fusion of genres that embrace folk, pop-rock and country.
Alan Cackett, Maverick

Taplas -
Interview and 'A Few Small Things' review.
There is a simple, natural air to this collection of songs, where her delightful voice flows easily alongside uncomplicated tunes. She sings softly of friends, past times, lost love and almost found and several other small things that may, when found in anyone's box of memories, strike a chord and evoke a nod and a knowing smile.

'A Few Small Things' review.
Jennifer has come up with an enchanting album, showcasing a set of gently crafted songs that prove both attractively accessible and genuinely evocative.
The delicate instrumentation works with Jennifer’s sublimely intimate singing
to create a musical landscape of controlled beauty... a simple latterday romanticism.
A Few Small Things is one of those records that repeatedly delights and captivates.

'A Few Small Things' review.
Bath-based singer/songwriter Jennifer Crook's debut
album is spellbinding...
...This is best enjoyed by suspending your cynicism and simply immersing
yourself in the world which Crook creates, which is a moving and lovely
experience.

Bath Chronicle - Album launch / A Few Small
Things review.
"When Jennifer Crook unveiled her debut album the crowd
were expecting something good, but I doubt they expected something this
good...
...the essence of this album is Jennifer Crook’s song writing. Her lyric writing
is done with real craft and care...her melodies are tunes you can remember. There
are even a couple of songs that sound, in the best sense, like pop hits.
...A Few Small Things is unique, a breath of fresh air, and hopefully the way forward."
Charley Dunlap, Bath Chronicle. May 2008

Taplas -
Album launch review.
Jennifer’s new album sees her going her own way, drawing on the influence of English traditional music but with elements of French musette, chamber music and, of course, contemporary singer-songwriters...
..songs like A Bicycle In Need of Repair and Penny have the wit and cleverness which makes you want to listen to them again and again until you know the lyrics off by heart... ."
A great evening in a great setting...an excellent piece of theatre...an all round excellent band..
Trefor Patten, Taplas

The Wessex Muse
- 'A Few Small Things' review.
"Beautiful lyrics and the voice of a nightingale".
The album consists of 10 beautiful songs culminating in the haunting "Too Much Rain".
Jennifer's songs are shot through with a lyrical and musical tenderness that seduces you into her world of bicycles in need of repair, broken dreams, roses in the morning and the zany antics of her friend Jane. The album is one of the sweetest sets of songs I have heard all year.
As a debut album "a few small things" is an outstanding success and certainly deserves a very wide audience."

The Bath Chronicle
- Album Launch Preview
Playing an old Gibson guitar it's mellow tone is the perfect accompaniment to her gently lyrical voice and her quietly emotional and evocative songs.
This really is a delightful acoustic/folk/popular music album filled with plenty of light and shade. There are romantic numbers like the enchanting A Rose in Morning as well as quirky love songs like my favourite A Bicycle in Need of Repair and songs of sadness and regret like Broken Dreams For Sale.
It is also beautifully produced. Even the artwork and the packaging indicate that this is something really rather special.
