Gigs…sometimes it’s the little things make all the difference
December 19, 2012. No comments.
Being a singer songwriter/musician for a living is hard. Oh yes.
But when you are not heaving yourself up from the latest disheartenment, or wondering how you are going to afford to put petrol in the van… it can be great. So the insatiable and the slightly mad carry on regardless.
Here are some of my favourite things lately:
Confirming gigs for next year in beautiful windswept places
Receiving a gig offer that explains everything clearly and only requires a simple yes
Genre-free music making with folks from wherever, playing whatever
Having a ready made band and a PA set up to try out a new song
A gig less than 10 minutes from my house so I can walk there, have a drink with my friends afterwards, and still get to bed at a reasonable time
Being part of a band…so whatever happens is only 25% my fault
Getting all my gear bungyed onto my trolley
Driving a camper van full of musicians and all their instruments
Excelling at parking
