We had a terrific day last week recording 3 songs live in the studio with Rob Bozas and world-renowned producer Stephen Tayler. Very exciting! The whole thing was filmed by Capture the Guru and I look forward to sharing that with you soon!

Firstly, if you took the trouble to add your email to our list and are wondering why there has been no newsletter for some time I promise that normal service will be returned very soon! We have been very busy and will be announcing some very exciting developments soon. Summer is now well and truly over but we had a fantastic festival season. Priddy Folk Festival and the Village Pump Folk Festival were particular highlights for the Jennifer Crook Trio radio interviews, more airplay and many new friends made. Jennifer & Mike had a great tour in Scotland. Read about some of the wonderful experiences they had on Jennifer’s BLOG and check out the LIVE REVIEW… from Balmory Hall on the Isle of Bute. Whilst in Glasgow they also recorded a live session for CELTIC MUSIC RADIO. Jennifer’s music has also been played recently in Little Rock, Arkansas on the show From Albion and Beyond…. Jennifer is back home now, the campervan is fixed and she will be chugging off again soon for the summer festivals.
Jennifer is excited to announce she will be travelling to Scotland this year for gigs on the beautiful Orkney Islands, Isle of Skye, Isle of Bute, Glenfarg and Glasgow (and more to be confirmed). Mike Cosgrave will be accompanying her on guitar and accordion. Where else would you want to be in May?
Jennifer’s annual winter project with Beth Porter (cello), Saul Rose (melodeons), and Maclaine Colston (hammered dulcimer) is now underway. Winter Wonderband had a lovely gig at the Shaftsbury Arts Centre last weekend and are looking forward to playing The Rondo Theatre in Bath on 13th December when WWB will also be doing a special session for Songs From the Shed.
Lovely news just in… Jennifer’s song Black Fly has been recorded by Orcadian singer Jo Philby on on her soon-to-be-released album ‘Beneath the Starry Sky’ recorded in Orkney and Nashville.
We’ve just uploaded some new video clips of Jennifer’s solo performance at the London Song Company’s Songwriter’s concert on 25th August this year, as well as clips of The Jennifer Crook Trio performing at Colston Hall 2 in June. Much thanks to Owen Benson and Adrian Birtwell for filming and editing these for us.
Thanks to everyone who came to see The Jennifer Crook Trio recently and to BBC Radio Devon for playing Come September in anticipation! The tour included a great gig at Acoustica Festival and an invitation to perform a song for Balcony TV which airs live performances in over 36 major cities worldwide. We are also promised some stunning footage from the gig in Box last week so watch out for that coming soon!
Jennifer’s live recording of Coming Down the Road has been picked out for inclusion on the Proper Music podcast 50th anniversary special, amongst the other fantastic artists found here
Jennifer is delighted to be asked to be “songwriter in residence” for the London Song Company Summer School in Devon, from 24th -27th August 2012 in the beautiful Seale Hayne. Alongside Julian Marshall, Tony Hazzard, Reg Meuross, Charlie Dore, & India Bourne, Jennifer will be involved in workshop running, performances and on hand with advice.

Jennifer is looking forward to returning to the Belfast Nashville Songwriters Festival at the end of February. This year she will be supporting fellow Snow Patrol musician and fabulous songwriter Iain Archer.

Jennifer was delighted to meet photographer Bill Zygmant at his exhibition of iconic ’60’s and 70’s images in Bristol last week. Bill donated the photograph of the female streakers for Merry-Go-Round’s CD booklet to illustrate the lyrics in ‘She Wore Red’ – “Like running naked for half a week’s wages ‘cross Westminster Bridge for a dare”.

Jennifer’s scheduled appearance at this weekends Folk Club Weekender at The Village Pump in Trowbridge has been brought forward from Sunday 24th to Saturday 23rd July. Jennifer will take to the stage at 8pm.

Bath-based singer songwriter and harp player Jennifer Crook recorded her new solo album “Merry-Go-Round” in Glasgow with producer and hit songwriter Boo Hewerdine. The album, featuring guest vocals from Eddi Reader and a duet with Nashville’s Darrell Scott, will be released in the UK on 11th July 2011 by Proper. Described as ‘spellbinding’ by Acoustic magazine, Jennifer’s blend of contemporary folk, americana and pop is delightfully difficult to pigeonhole. Jennifer has toured throughout Britain and Europe with many top artists and bands.
